ESL Lessons: Fall Session
* We use small group exercises that use the skills above and critical thinking to improve the student’s English language skills speed and accuracy.
The lessons in the Summer Session will focus on:
- Practicing simple presentations
- Reading and listening of professional materials
- Understanding conversational American English
- Practice both improvised and prepared American English conversations
- Exercises to improve pronunciation
- Lessons on figurative vocabulary: American expressions and common sayings

She said she had to miss work because her grandmother died. But I think she’s CRYING WOLF because that’s the 5th time her grandmother has died this year!

EX.: RESORT TO: To do or use (something) especially because no other choices are possible
When the bill was more than he expected, he had to RESORT TO asking his parents for money.
COMMON AMERICAN SLANG
EX.: ASAP: As Soon As Possible
My rent is overdue. I need to pay it ASAP!
COMMONLY CONFUSED WORDS
EX.: LEND: To let someone use something that is yours. When you lend a thing to someone, you expect that person to return it to you.
Can you LEND me an umbrella because it is raining?
BORROW: To take something and promise to return it.
Can I BORROW an umbrella because it is raining?
WEEKDAY LESSONS
Schedule: Monday and Wednesday 7-8:30 pm (Washington D.C. time)
– The first lesson is on Wednesday, September 22nd. The session will end in December.
Price: The total cost of the class is $330 USD.
This pays for 2 lessons a week. ($15 per class with a total of 22 lessons).
